Our mission is to provide opportunities to explore the outdoors for children with special needs and disabilities.
In 1990 two brothers, Kevin & Mike Pritchett, were asked to be volunteers by the Uinta National Forest Service to help showcase their new ADA bathroom that was installed at Payson Lake. They invited 16 disabled and special needs children to come spend the day fishing with volunteers and enjoy the great outdoors. Watching the kids learn how to fish and earning an appreciation for nature, Kevin and Mike decided it was one of the most enjoyable days of their lives. After Payson Lake, they created a plan with the Forest Service and the DWR to continue this fishing event for special needs and disabled children every second Tuesday of May. The event grew with leaps and bounds shortly after and soon, there were several hundred kids participating in the Kids Fishing Day. Once the event grew too big for Payson Lake, it was moved to Salem Pond.
As success of the Kids Fishing Day grew, Kevin and Mike knew they needed to do more. As avid hunters, they decided that taking the children on an allinclusive turkey hunt would be a much needed opportunity for the children to create more memorable outdoor experiences. The first hunt was with the legendary Doug Miller Outdoor Show. That Show continues today under a different name: Outdoors with Adam Eakle. Taking the children turkey hunting turned out to be such a huge achievement that neither brother expected. After years of successful hunts, the two brothers started guiding big game hunts as well.
